Akons Akoin partners with Baanx for debit card

Akoin (AKN), the digital asset platform and cryptocurrency developed by global artist Akon, launches this month and has partnered with Baanx to offer a debit card that allows users to preload and spend their crypto assets anywhere in the world.

The Akoin Card will expand the reach of AKN and allow people to pay for goods and services at the 40 million merchants worldwide who accept Mastercard, providing a huge boost to the wider adoption and use of crypto.

With the Akoin Card, people can buy goods and services quickly and easily. The card is connected directly to a user’s Akoin wallet so they can spend crypto assets anywhere while the Baanx platform works behind the scenes to settle with merchants in their national fiat currency.

This means that people who already use AKN in Mwale Medical and Technology City in Kenya can now use the asset to connect to payment systems and buy goods worldwide, which offers excellent benefits. Once AKN is rolled out across Kenya, the whole country will have a new, quick and easy way to shop, trade and do business around the world.

Lynn Liss, Akoin co-founder and chief operating officer, said the partnership with Baanx would bring new players to the Akoin market.

“This will give millions of people access to crypto and access to a global network of vendors selling goods and services. This is life changing and a positive step forward for crypto usage. Akoin and Baanx share the vision of providing an infrastructure for a new digital economy, in a lawful manner that offers users world-class value. “

Baanx CEO Garth Howat said: “The ability of the AKN community to spend the crypto assets of the Akoin projects with the new Akoin card enables broader acceptance of cryptocurrency. The future of this project is huge, with very ambitious plans that will transform the payments landscape in Kenya and Africa for many millions of people. Baanx is here to help Akoin achieve these goals through a combination of cryptocurrency-enabled payment systems, digital asset-based lending and digital banking services that bridge the gaps between cryptocurrencies and financial services. “

Akoin is also in the process of providing an Akoin wallet that will help spread the Akoin Card across Africa. This wallet enables users to learn, earn, spend and save using an integrated marketplace of DApp / App and service partners, providing economic opportunities and an easy way to get into the Akoin ecosystem.

Important partnerships

Akoin is already driving large global partnerships that will bring tremendous benefits to the Akoin token.

Earlier this year, Akoin’s pilot program in Kenya’s 35,000-resident Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC) heralded a success. Technology Center Founder Julius Mwale and Akoin Akon Founders attended a large induction event in the coming months to showcase the national rollout of Akoin across Kenya.

The Akoin currency and platform has been used by the city’s residents, workers and growing businesses so they can get their salaries in the form of tokens and use AKN to pay for goods and services across the city, including groceries and gas.
