The Mombasa team is optimistic and ready to surpass their opponents in Nairobi during the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Tier 3 Shooting Championships at the Bamburi Rifle Club, Mombasa.
The championships will take place from September 29th to October 2nd.
Bamburi Rifle Club chairman Abdulhakim Daud said the Mombasa team is led by champion Ibrahim Ndung’u in the men’s category and Marycharlene Ndwiga in the women’s category.
Ndung’u, the reigning International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) league champion, will compete against several experienced shooters from the National Gun Owners Association (Ngao-Kenya), Limuru and disciplined forces, among others.
“All precautions have been taken and we thank Standard Group PLC and other sponsors for partnering with us to ensure the event, being held in Mombasa for the first time ever, was a success,” said Hakim.
Standard Group PLC chief executive officer Orlando Lyomu said the group has been at the forefront of supporting shooting activities in the country.
“We appreciate being a part of the championship and are excited to support the event as we look forward to continuing to work with the Bamburi Rifle Club on future events,” said Lyomu.
Hakim said Mombasa successfully hosted the IDPA Tier1 last year and looks forward to hosting the Tier3 Championships, which will see a galaxy of Kenya’s sharpshooters and aspiring athletes in action.
Other experienced marksmen from Mombasa include Mahamed Ramadhan, Muzahim Taib, Daud, Samier Muravvej, Abdullahi Buthul, Soi Kilonzo, Issa Issa, Elias Kavwagi and Omar Moosa.
