DG NITDA Bag Leadership Commendation Award in London – TechEconomy.ng

In recognition of his thoughtful leadership and his unprecedented achievements in implementing the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) for a digital Nigeria; Kashifu Inuwa, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has been awarded the African Leadership Organization’s prestigious Special African Leadership Commendation Award.

The summit, held Monday at the House of Lords in London, UK, was hosted by Lord Dollar Popat, a member of the UK House of Lords and the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and Rwanda.

Inuwa was honored with the award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to the Nigerian economy, his contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s information technology (IT) sector and digital economy, and his role in the unprecedented achievements in the implementation of NDEPS.

During his acceptance speech, the NITDA boss, represented by Dr. Usman Gambo Abdullahi, Director, IT Infrastructure Solutions, that he is very happy about the award.

He explained that the award would inspire him to do more as it provides the next level of motivation that could have a profound impact on the agency, the IT sector and society.

He added that the award is unique and historic in that it is presented in the world’s oldest parliament building and one of the UK’s most important institutions, the UK House of Lords.

The event attracted leading African political and business leaders, development finance stakeholders, professionals and members of the academic community.

British Ministers were present including the Honorable Vicky Ford, Minister for Africa; The Honorable Renganden Padayachy, Minister of Finance; Economic Planning and Development, Mauritius, Dr. Akindele Akintoye; Chairman, Platform Capital Nigeria, Dr. Emmanuel Nwogbo; Group Managing Director, Alfa Centauri West Africa Limited, Nigeria; dr Ifie Sekibo, CEO of Heritage Bank, Nigeria; Ruth Zaipuna, CEO; NMB Bank, Tanzania, Carlos Moore; President, National Bar Association, USA, and Sam Matekane; Group Chairman, Matekane Group of Companies; and Presidential candidate of the Revolution for Prosperity Party (RFP) in Lesotho.
