NAIROBI, Kenya November 2nd – The European Union has announced this year’s Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarships for undergraduate graduates ready to study in Europe for their Masters.
The new scholarship program for 2021-2027 was announced on Tuesday by EU Ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger, who encouraged more Kenyans to apply.
“The application process is easy and free,” she said over a media breakfast at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi.
Erasmus + is the EU program for the promotion of education, training, youth and sport.
Ambassador Geiger said the 2021-2027 program has a strong focus on social inclusion, green and digital change and promoting the participation of young people in democratic life.
Eligible applicants must have a first university degree or demonstrate an equivalent level of education recognized in accordance with national law and practice.
University students in their final year of study can also apply if they are guaranteed a degree before the start of their masterâs degree.
European Union Ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger chats with Capital FM Editor-in-Chief Bernard Momanyi during a media breakfast at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi on November 2, 2021 during the launch of the Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarships 2021.
“This is a very good program because the tuition fees are fully covered and successful applicants receive 1,000 euros a month for maintenance and 3,000 euros a year for travel,” said Ambassador Geiger.
And due to COVID-19 restrictions, European universities offering the Erasmus Mundus program will have options to study online, meaning applicants will be admitted to the program and can choose to attend from their home country.
“The good thing about this scholarship is that applicants at one of the participating universities can choose from their area of ââinterest and only a first degree is required,” she said.
