Kenya is one of the leading travel destinations in Africa. With numerous parks that feature wildlife viewing as the main attraction, Kenya has a spectacular 536-kilometer coastline along with other hospitality options, which makes it a choice for many tourists.
For this reason, most of the visitors want to visit the world famous sites like the Masai Mara to experience the wildebeest migration. Others can spot elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, and buffalo, known locally as the “Big Five,” among the hundreds of other animal species found in the renowned Amboseli National Park.
Even so, Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, has some spectacular but little-known tourist destinations that can easily be overlooked when your eyes are only on the big game. As the city establishes itself as the leading conference tourism destination in Africa, these hidden gems around the city are best suited for such visitors.
Without having to travel far from the city, such visitors can take a short drive and enjoy Kenya’s abundant tourism resources.
One such attraction is the Giraffe Center. About 10 km from the city center, the Giraffe Center offers visitors the opportunity to experience these large and friendly giants up close. Visitors can use a raised feeding platform that allows them to hand-feed the giraffes.
You can see up close how the giraffe scrapes leaves from acacia branches with its long pronging tongue. The center also has a souvenir shop and a 2 km nature trail.
Another overlooked but refreshing spot for visitors to Nairobi is to climb up to the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC), which offers scenic views of the city.
