A missing Mombasa businessman charged with terrorism charges is finally reunited with his family after a month in the hands of kidnappers.
Abdulhakim Salim Sagar, 40, battling terrorist charges in a court in Shanzu, Mombasa, was found on the morning of September 19 and is now with his family.
Don’t tell journalists
According to a national human rights organization called HAKI Africa, the adductors warned him not to tell human rights activists or journalists about his abduction.

Salim kidnapping
Salim was kidnapped by suspected police officers on August 18, 2021.
That evening, seven armed men attacked Salim and packed him into a waiting double-cab Toyota Hilux pickup truck before spinning off.
Before the incident, he had just attended prayers at a mosque in Kuze in the old city.
Five days later, Coast Regional Security Committee chairman John Elungatta announced that police officers had arrested the terrorist suspect.
Mbugua Mureithi said the family lawyer, Salim, who runs a cyber business in Old Town, Mombasa, has been charged with possession of terrorist materials on his cellphone.

“Since the case started in 2018, he hasn’t skipped a case. I am shocked how they arrested my brother in front of his wife and children.
We ask those who took him to bring him to justice. He cooperates with the officials. Even when asked to appear at the ATPU offices in Mombasa, he pledged, ”Mureithi said.
He stated that Salim, a father of three, had reported to the ATPU offices once a month since 2018. He was first taken into custody in 2018 after his employee was arrested.
