Despite the country’s national debt, the National Treasury outperformed the other 20 ministries. PSPMMU said the performance was not the best for the ministry, adding that COVID-19 was having an impact.
Nevertheless, the Ministry of Finance only achieved the grade âgoodâ and missed the âexcellentâ or âvery goodâ grades reserved for the above-average performance.

The ranking was based on selected parameters based on the service provision and the effects afterwards.
This included the use of allocated government funds, the use of externally mobilized resources, the core mandate, the project completion rate, access to public procurement opportunities, youth internships, industrial links and apprenticeship training as well as corruption prevention.

The other lower ministries, according to the PSPMMU report, were Joe Mucheru’s Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology and Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage under the direction of CS Amina Mohamed, and the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife led by Najib Balala.
