ODM leader Raila Odinga pledges to put in place solid policies that will help boost the country’s economy by more than 10 percent each year if he is elected president in the August 2022 elections.

The former prime minister claims that this is achievable based on his experience and rich understanding of promoting economic development.

“We have a policy that enables our country to rise economically and to raise our economy to a new level.”

“If I am elected, I promise to ensure that Kenya‘s economy grows 10 percent and more every year,” he said when he urged Kenyans to stand up for his candidacy for the country’s presidency.

He said his forecast is possible “because we are going to expand our industries, our agricultural sector and the blue economy”.

Raila, who is also the African Union’s Special Envoy for Infrastructure Development, also pledged to continue the ongoing expansion of the country’s infrastructure, such as building roads to open up the country and boost the industries that will play a vital role in its work Economic agenda

“I was Minister of Roads and my results speak for themselves. I’ll keep our economy going. ”He said

He said some of his competitors are promoting economic models that are unsustainable and urged Kenyans to reject them once elections are due. To this end, he cited the bottom-up model of Vice President William Ruto.

At the same time, Raila, who was in Busia for the Abanyala culture ceremony, warned neighboring countries not to use security personnel to harass Kenyan fishermen and to confiscate their fishing gear in Lake Victoria.

He said Kenya has many rivers that feed Lake Victoria and urged Uganda to agree to sustainable use of the lake’s resources.

He rallied support for the Azilio la Umoja initiative, saying it would unite the country, create a stable environment and draw attention to nation building.
